My name is Heather Rovet...
When I discovered the "love of my life" is a con man, a criminal, a pathological liar, and basically a sociopath, it was shattering and surreal. Everything I thought to be true about him, our life, and our future was a lie. My life was like a sweater with a loose thread, and it would continue to unravel for days, weeks, months, and years to come. I didn't even have to pull that hard. The deception ran deep. He took away everything I thought I knew to be true, safe, and just in the world. I have tried to make sense of these events, but it is almost impossible to make sense of the nonsensical.
My Mission
When I realized there was nothing the police would do, I decided to go public with my story. I had many missing pieces to my puzzle, and I quickly realized I was not alone. He had done this to many women. My common law partner wasn't who I thought he was at all. Jace Peretti, also known as Jace Parratti, was Jason Porter. In 2012, he was all over the news, dubbed the "online Romeo." The irony is, I didn't meet him online, he literally showed up at my front door. Little did I know he was a predator, it would take three years for me to discover who I was really in love with. It would take three more to see some justice. I vowed to myself to turn this pain into purpose.
